How will Boeing respond to the 320NEO?
#13
797....Not Happening and even Boeing CEO or President....one of the top guys said its not coming or being shown at this years Paris Show. Boeing to me is falling behind and prob will continue. Airbus has been getting more and more orders per year than Boeing and Boeing has been having to much trouble with the 787 which has made them fall more behind than Airbus

Well the 787 is still ahead of the 350.

Yeah..

The 787 is only ahead of the A350 because its was designed much sooner Wink. The A350 has not yet reached its originally planned launch date and has only had one 6 month delay. Thus while the 787 is three years late, the A350 is only six months late. I do expect this to change, however I still expect the 350 to be more on-time than the 787. The problem is Boeing outsourced everything on the 787. It was managements idea to 'kill the unions' by letting other companies build even the most key parts, and it backfired drastically. Boeing could have saved so much time and money if they had just agreed to union terms and built the aircraft themselves. I think the problem stems from the anti-union culture found in the highest levels of the Boeing corporate team.
When Boeing announces the 797 we will see if they have learned from the mistakes on the 787 or not. I hope for there own survival that they have.

EXACTLY.

Agree with you 100%. Boeing not only is ahead with the A350 but its ahead overall since they started about 20 years before Airbus

The 350 has not be built yet. Something huge could be found which would set it back. So Boeing is still ahead.

I disagree with that. Just because something could theoretically (or realistically) still set Airbus back does not mean Boeing is ahead. The fact is the A350 is SIX MONTHS delayed right now. The 787 is OVER TWO YEARS late. Both of these aircraft could face further delays but that is irrelevant. The fact is that right now Boeing is more delayed than Airbus. It does not matter who started building first or last, it matters if they meet the deadlines they set. We shall see who ends up being more delayed, but I do not believe Airbus could even remotely be as late with the 350 as Boeing has been with the 787. Simply because Airbus has not outsourced everything possible with the 350 like Boeing did with the 787. The 787 is the first Boeing that Boeing does not build.

Boeing still builds some of it.

What I can say is, boeing have not rejected any claims to a 737 replacment in the form of the 797. I have also read a few magazines which have had some lengthy articles on a 737 replacment.
It seams that boeing are infact looking for more of a 757 replacment then a 737 replacment (About time for one Wink ) because at this time, the closest has been the 737-900ER but its not really soutible.

What im expecting the 797 to be is a wide boddied aircraft which will come in 2x 2,2,2 layouts to seat 190 (737-8 replacment) and 2x a 2,3,2 layout which will seat 220 seats and 250 seats (737-900ER/757-200 replacment). In eccense, they are 2 different aircraft.
If the 2 aircraft in the 2,3,2 layout were to utilise the same cross section allowing it to be constructed on the same line. The 2,2,2 layout would have to be contstructed on a new line all together.

Another way boeimg could go is to produce a smaller 787 aswell as a lower range/cheaper 787-8 for 757 replacments. I guess we will find out later this month.

Well they cancelled the 787-3 so....... Anyway 2-2-2 seating isn't very efficient based on the aerodynamics. 3-3 is better and more efficient. but Boeing can always go 2-3-2 which works, but then it would be abit too wide.

Apparentlly a wider fuselage will actually help aerodynamics Smile

The wider fuselage also allows for larger overhead space and will allow for more luggage under-seat.

The problem with 3,3 is that seat load time is terrible. a 2,2,2 layouyt would be much quicker to load/ unload.
